Breast Cancer Litigation
Alice F. Collopy has been an active litigator in the field of medical negligence for over 30 years. She has handled and tried cases ranging from delay in diagnosing cancer, to obstetrical malpractice, to internal medicine and surgery. She has achieved substantial awards in all of these areas.
In recent years, Ms. Collopy has focused on breast cancer litigation, and has been particularly successful in that arena. She has represented clients whose claims have been based on a delay in diagnosis of breast cancer that has caused significant harm to the patient. The claims of the delay range from a radiological basis, (i.e., a mis-read mammogram or sonogram) to a clinical basis, (i.e., an alleged failure to obtain a diagnosis of a persistent breast mass). Many of her clients feel more comfortable with a female attorney advancing their claims in this subject matter.
Ms. Collopy’s persuasive record of successful jury verdicts has benefited a broad range of clients through comprehensive settlements, without the need to proceed through the trial process to verdict.
Ms. Collopy’s practice has been in New York, New Jersey, and North Carolina. She has been a guest lecturer at numerous continuing legal education seminars. Ms. Collopy has many civic activities as well, including being a member and President of her local Board of Education.
Alice Collopy received her A.B. degree, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Georgetown University. She received her J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center. She is an alumni interviewer for Georgetown.
